We recently had 5 days, just the 3 of us, at Center Parcs. I absolutely loved it and felt so happy and relaxed that I was prompted to write this ridiculous ode one evening:
I wish we could stay at Center Parcs forever. We’d have leisurely strolls through the woodland, push TM on the swings, swim twice a day and share our patio with ducks, rabbits and squirrels. We’d read books while the baby crawls around the (fairly baby friendly) chalet, sipping prosecco and watching the sun set over the trees. We’d take the boy to the play centre to mess around with soft play and ride on toys (not very often, that shit costs extra).
We’d eat pancakes, burgers, cakes and fudge galore. The smiley delivery people would turn up at the chalet door with spicy curries, pizza and Chinese. Actually, that’s the main problem I foresee with staying here forever (other than the obvious issue of running out of money, like). I’d very quickly become morbidly obese. In my fantasy world, though, the woodland walking, crazy golf and lazy swimming would be enough exercise to offset the obscene amount of food and drink consumed.
Each day we’d wake up in the morning smiling at the wildlife on the patio, planning our day with lovely activities and factoring in lots of time to chill out. In the winter we’d have the log burner roaring to keep us nice and cosy and in the summer we’d dine al fresco. We’d see bands in the restaurants and take TM to a mini disco to make friends and burn some energy before bed. The staff would fuss over him and give him balloons and activity packs. We’d go bowling and listen to storytellers. We’d watch fireworks on Bonfire Night and at New Year. There would be no dull days.
Ah, a girl can dream. Safe to say we had a bloody good time at Center Parcs and I am trying to persuade B to book another trip for early next year. Maybe for a whole week this time! I’m joking, we aren’t made of money.
Where’s the most relaxing holiday destination for you?
