I thought I’d pop a little poetry post up before we go away this week. I am super excited as we are going back to Center Parcs! Obviously I’ll be a bit quieter on social media and won’t be posting anything on the blog so I thought I’d leave you with a poem I have written about the baby always kicking when I hold TM. I mentioned this in my most recent pregnancy update and it just seems so special to me, to have this little one growing inside me who seems to know when I cuddle their big brother; so naturally I’ve written a poem about it!
As parents, I think we are often guilty of focussing on the things we wish we could do better and the things we feel guilty about. When the fabulous Pat from White Camellias came up with the #RockingMotherhood tag, challenging mum bloggers to come up with a list of 10 reasons why they are a brilliant mother, I thought it was a great idea. She kindly nominated me to join in and I have finally got round to doing so! It’s so refreshing to focus on what we are good at and proud of; we’re all doing a great job. Without further ado; here’s 10 reasons why I am rocking motherhood… Continue reading
Eeeek, I’ve only gone and recorded a bloody vlog. The lovely Charlie from Mess & Merlot nominated me to answer the Vogue 73 questions which are floating around at the moment. It was her first vlog too and you can watch it here! It’s a good way to get to know more about bloggers, like any blogger tag. I was intending to answer these questions as a blog post. But 73 questions is, well, quite a lot. Then I was sleep deprived and so made the foolish decision to film myself answering the questions instead. Apparently you are meant to do it all in one take which is handy as I have no idea how to edit. I can’t imagine anybody is going to watch the whole thing as it is 16 minutes long – how ridiculous! I was aiming for 8, I think…HA. Succinct has never been my strong suit. Continue reading
This post is a bit of a jumble, really, of lots of thoughts I want to share. It’s kind of threefold – why I want to continue blogging, a thank you, and in praise of virtual friendships.
Sometimes I feel like sharing my blogs and expecting anyone to read them is silly. In a world where there are millions (I guess) of parent bloggers and each week I am discovering new ones, it is definitely a saturated market. I read blogs by people who earn money from their writing, who work with huge brands, win awards and have made blogging their career. I read blogs by people (like myself) who don’t really go in for the constant social media promotion and write what they feel like to a relatively small readership. And I’ve read blogs everywhere in between. What unites them all, though, is they’re amazing. Honestly, each week I am blown away by the incredible things I read; I am often moved to tears or hysterical laughter. In almost all of the blogs I read I recognise something that I can liken to my own experiences as a parent or experiences that family members have been through.
I love a good blogger tag (as you know…) and the lovely Brenda at Kids, Coffee and Chaos nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I love these tags for getting to know other bloggers and spreading the #bloglove. It’s the standard format, I answer the questions put to me by Brenda and then write my own questions for the bloggers that I choose to nominate. Thank you so much for the nomination – please go and check out the Kids, Coffee and Chaos blog as it’s so honest and funny. The Sunshine Blogger Award post is a good one to get you started. Brenda is also a really supportive and kind member of the blogging community! Snaps for Brenda (yeah, I watched Legally Blonde recently…) Continue reading
I appear to be in a bit of a rut currently and I haven’t been writing much – which is quite unusual for me! I wrote a post a few months back for one of my favourite bloggers, Lucy at Occupation: (m)other, as part of her Creative Mothers series. In lieu of writing anything new and in the hope that it reignites my creative flame I thought I’d share the post on here. PLEASE check out the rest of the series as I am in seriously good company and there are some fantastic posts from amazing creative mums! The original post can be found on Lucy’s site. My gorgeous buddy Catie at Diary of an Imperfect Mum nominated me for a Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Tag. I love these tags as I am super nosy so I enjoy reading about other bloggers – and let’s face it, all bloggers like to talk about ourselves or we wouldn’t be doing this, would we?! Catie’s blog is fantastic so please check it out. I’ve always thought that Catie seems like a brilliant mum and actually I had the absolute pleasure recently of meeting her and her beautiful family and can confirm that she is as wonderful in person as she seems on her blog!
