10 truths about baby number 2

It’s been a while, eh?! I wrote this post about three months ago and never got around to popping it on this here blog. Life is pretty hectic with two little ones and while I occasionally write the odd note on my phone, I haven’t quite found the spare time to publish anything. Since I last wrote my eldest turned 2, we’ve had a gorgeous Chrismas together and all of a sudden it’s a new year and we have a two year old and a 6 month old…madness! This is a list of realisations I’ve come to since having our lovely little JB and becoming a family of four. I’m sure other parents of more than one child will understand some of these. A note for our virtual memory box: #3

It’s been a while since I have written one of these posts; I don’t think I intended there to be such a large gap! Basically I like to keep a note for our ‘virtual memory box’ of all the adorable, quirky little things TM is doing at any particular age. I imagine these things that feel like such a huge part of our life at the moment can be all too easily forgotten as children change so rapidly. The last one I wrote was way back in July and there are so many things that have changed about our little guy since then; I mean he’s walking now, for a start! These are written directly to TM and I hope when he’s older we will enjoy looking back on them together.

To my beautiful toddler (I don’t think I can call you a baby anymore…) I can’t believe you’re one now, my love. You are turning into such a cheeky, affectionate and gorgeous kid. Here are some of the funniest/cutest things you do these days…

Sunshine Blogger Award

I love a good blogger tag (as you know…) and the lovely Brenda at Kids, Coffee and Chaos nominated me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I love these tags for getting to know other bloggers and spreading the #bloglove. It’s the standard format, I answer the questions put to me by Brenda and then write my own questions for the bloggers that I choose to nominate. Thank you so much for the nomination – please go and check out the Kids, Coffee and Chaos blog as it’s so honest and funny. The Sunshine Blogger Award post is a good one to get you started. Brenda is also a really supportive and kind member of the blogging community! Snaps for Brenda (yeah, I watched Legally Blonde recently…) Continue reading

The Battle of the Nap

One of my favourite parent bloggers has to be Dawn at Rhyming with Wine. I think it is SO clever how she writes all of her blog posts in rhyme and they have made me both laugh hysterically and cry. She’s a beautiful writer and I often read her posts aloud to B because they’re just so fabulous! (She’s also blooming lovely!) When she started her guest post series, Cheers!, I knew I had to try and write a rhyme so I could get in on the action. I’ve mentioned before that I write a lot of poetry but I’ve only recently started sharing it and it never usually rhymes. I was quite pleased that I managed to knock something up for Dawn’s blog. Without further ado…

Motherhood and creativity

I appear to be in a bit of a rut currently and I haven’t been writing much – which is quite unusual for me! I wrote a post a few months back for one of my favourite bloggers, Lucy at Occupation: (m)other, as part of her Creative Mothers series. In lieu of writing anything new and in the hope that it reignites my creative flame I thought I’d share the post on here. PLEASE check out the rest of the series as I am in seriously good company and there are some fantastic posts from amazing creative mums! The original post can be found on Lucy’s siteContinue reading

Joy

I have been fairly quiet on the blog recently and next week I am on holiday, so I just wanted to write a little post before I disappear offline. This is actually the first time I have shared one of my poems on the blog, although I did have one published online when I participated in Occupation: (m)other’s Creative Mothers series a few months back. I write poetry all the time but I think most of it is probably crap. This isn’t necessarily my finest writing but I think the sentiment comes through. I wrote this after an afternoon full of giggles with my boy and after reading my gorgeous friend Lucy’s lovely post about laughter (two links to her blog in one opening paragraph, I really must be her biggest fan..!)
